OISIN MURPHY has revealed the mystery behind the greatest horse he has ridden – which was ever banned from racing.
The champion Flat jockey is currently serving a 14-month suspension for failing two breath tests and violating Covid rules.

But he broke cover to appear on Racing Post LiveSaturday show in association with Betfair.
Murphy, a three-time champion jockey, has ridden superstars of the game, including Roaring Lion, Kameko and Alcohol Free, and has collected millions upon millions in prize money.
But he said the one that gave the most goosebumps was an undisclosed filly by Deep Impact, the iconic Japanese horse that won their Triple Crown in 2005.
One condition, however, meant that the horse was banned from ever setting foot on a racecourse.
This is despite Deep Impact going to become one of the world’s best stallions, with his progeny reproducing some of his exploits.
When asked who was the best horse he ever rode, Murphy, 26, initially said Roaring Lion was the “highest rated.”

But he insisted on the ‘best ever’, he continued: “I once rode a Deep Impact mare at work with Almond Eye on the wood chips at Miho [training centre].
“She went by Almond Eye [ten wins in 13 runs and more than £13million in prize money] on the bit.
“I would say this is the best horse I’ve ever ridden.
“But she bled on acceleration and that was the second time she bled.
“There’s a protocol in Japan that says if they bleed they should be banned for a period of time.
“She was slowly brought back and bled again so she could never race again. Finito.”
