‘She-Hulk’ star Jameela Jamil calls out “hostile” viewers – The Hollywood Reporter

Jameela Jamil wants fans to know she doesn’t get mad if viewers aren’t charmed by She-Hulk: Lawyerbut she still wishes some critiques would be expressed differently.

The actress, who plays antagonist Titania in the Disney+ series starring Tatiana Maslany in the title role, has involved fans in the discourse surrounding the miracle comedy since its August launch. On Saturday she posted video on Twitter of herself as she casually ate McDonald’s fries in her character in New York City’s Times Square, adding the caption: “Waiting for the latest episode of She-Hulk Like it….”

When a male Twitter user suggested that he not wait for the final, Jamil . said responded, “lol…why are so many men so upset? Are you okay?” The next day, she doubled down on her support for the show by partially tweeting that She-Hulk didn’t “hold on to an old formula, and we still made it to #1 in the ratings and we had a BLAST to make it.”

On Monday she has followed that up with, “ITS CLEAR. It’s absolutely GOOD if you personally don’t like She Hulk. I know it doesn’t appeal to everyone. Some people LOVE it. But can we all agree that you don’t have to be *so* hostile when you express your feelings *TO* me. We’re all fans, let’s have a nice chat.”

When a Twitter user pushed the star to clarify what she meant by “hostile” comments, Jamil wrote“I’ve been told I’m a diversity worker. I was told I would never work again. I was told to stop letting women write shows, I was told I looked disgusting, and I was told I would only be remembered as shit. Are you telling me what is hostile?”

Last month, Jamil spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about enjoying her night out in which she attended Kourtney Kardashian’s Boohoo fashion show in character and ended up at McDonald’s. “I went to the The official party,” she said. “I partied with Dixie D’Amelio. I went to Times Square and stepped on the big iconic red staircase and formed a storm. I went to McDonald’s, all in this couture.”

Besides, she told THR at Comic-Con in July that, despite the fact that earlier responded to criticism regarding the wig she’s wearing for the character, she doesn’t begrudge Marvel fans for having spoken out. “I’m on their side,” she said then. “So I don’t mind criticism or feedback.”

The first season for Disney+s She-Hulk: Lawyer runs until the final falls on October 13.
