Steven Knight writes film after Damon Lindelof’s departure – The Hollywood Reporter

One of Lucasfilm’s upcoming movies Star Wars features has found a new writer, with Peaky Blinders Creator Stephen Knight step in. Knight will be working on a script for the project from Oscar-winning filmmaker Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, who also helmed episodes of Mrs. Marvel.

The move is coming after leaving by Lost’S Damon Lindelof and emerging writer Justin Britt-Gibson left the project. Lindelof began work on the film in July 2022 and secretly held a two week session with writers to break a story before he and Britt-Gibson left to write the script which sources say will take place after 2019 Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

Rise of Skywalker was a turning point for it Star Warsas it concluded the Skywalker Saga that began with the original 1977 movie. Rise of Skywalker unfolded just weeks after the Disney+ era of Star Wars started with The Mandalorianthe breakout hit that propelled the streaming service as its flagship show and, in large part, became a phenomenon for Baby Yoda.

No date has been set for the film, although Disney has set one Star Wars feature set for December 19, 2025. The move comes ahead of next month’s Star Wars Celebration in London, where Lucasfilm is expected to reveal more about its big-screen plans.
