Also in tribute to the late Queen, Kate wore a brooch of a portrait of the young Queen Elizabeth II wearing an evening dress with a ribbon and star of the Order of the Garter.
She also wore diamond earrings, which belonged to Queen Elizabeth II and the Lotus Flower Tiara, also known as the Queen’s Mother’s Papyrus Tiara.
Made of diamonds in fanned-out motifs topped by floating diamond arches, it was a favorite of Princess Margaret.

Tonight, due to the Covid pandemic, the Diplomatic Corps reception was held for the first time since 2019, with up to 2,000 guests entering the palace.
At the reception, which usually takes place annually, the monarch invites the diplomatic corps to an event in the State Rooms of Buckingham Palace.
It celebrates the presence in London of one of the largest diplomatic corps in the world and sees the King and Queen meet representatives of countries accredited to the Court of St James.
The last reception for the diplomatic corps was hosted by Queen Elizabeth II at Buckingham Palace in December 2019.

It is usually held every December, but there were no receptions in 2020 and 2021 due to the Covid pandemic.
Tonight’s event comes after the Prince and Princess of Wales looked loved-up as ever in heartwarming behind-the-scenes Instagram photos taken at this year’s Earthshot Prize ceremony in Boston.
