Tom Holland has announced that he is taking a break from social media after finding the apps “overwhelming.”

The Spider-Man: No Way Home actor, who has a whopping 67.7 million Instagram followers, shared his most recent post on July 2.

He made a brief return on Saturday night to explain that he has decided to remove the apps to protect his sanity.

In a new video titled “Hello and Goodbye,” the 26-year-old explained: “I’ve been taking a break from social media for my mental health because I find Instagram and Twitter overstimulating, overwhelming, I get. caught up and I spiraled out of reading things about myself online, and in the end it is very damaging to my mental state so I decided to take a step back and uninstall the app.

“On this very, very brief return to Instagram, I thought it would be very important and a good idea to shed some light on a charity we sponsor, which is tribe4. Tribe4 is a wonderfully innovative educational program. The groundbreaking apps, the clinically advised website and the mental health conferences all contributed to helping young children who are suffering.”

He continued: ‘So thanks for listening, but something that’s also very important is that these charities need help too. The Brothers Trust is a fund to raise money so that these charities can continue to do the fantastic work they do. So if you’re so inclined to help us help them and in turn help others, visit our website, buy yourself a T-shirt, all the money goes to all the charities we support.

“So we really appreciate your love and support. Again, if you are suffering and you need help, download one of the apps Stem4 has to offer. I have them all, I have tried them all, they are all fantastic. They are very helpful. So thanks again for listening. I’m going to disappear from Instagram again. And to everyone out there, thank you for your love and support. I love you all, and I’ll talk to you again soon.

Tom went on to explore the various apps the charities offer, including Calm Harm, which aims to “control and reduce intense emotions such as the urge to harm yourself,” and Clear Fear, which provides assistance in managing anxiety symptoms.

The Uncharted actor explains: ‘The Brothers Trust supports this charity because we think it’s a fantastic cause. There is a terrible stigma attached to mental health and I know that asking for help and seeking help is not something to be ashamed of, but it is much easier said than done.

“So hopefully these apps can be your first step to becoming happier and healthier.”

Tom has discussed his relationship with social media in the past, previously admitting that he became “obsessed” with Instagram and then revealing that the only reason he hasn’t completely left the apps is because of his commitments to Marvel.

Wrapping up promo for his latest Spider-Man installment and action-adventure flick Uncharted, Tom has spent the past few months filming for new anthology series The Crowded Room in New York City, and was last spotted on set in early August.
