Man United in talks about Morata move

Alvaro Morata is the latest player to have his name drawn from Manchester United’s packed transfer raffle.

Erik ten Hag is looking to sign a new striker before the deadline, with doubts still about Cristiano Ronaldo’s future, Edinson Cavani now gone and their unpopular pursuit of Marko Arnautovic called off due to a fan backlash.

The Athletic report that a move to Old Trafford for ex-Chelsea frontman Morata this month is now seen as a real possibility, as talks are already underway with Atletico Madrid over a deal that could be worth £30million.

Tottenham closes £41m Romero deal

Tottenham are reportedly poised to finally turn Cristian Romero’s successful loan deal into a permanent transfer.

The Argentine defender initially came on loan to Atalanta’s Serie A Spurs last summer on a season-long lease with an option to buy.

According to The Telegraph, Tottenham will now exercise that option and sign a permanent deal worth around £41 million, which would put him third on the club’s list of the most expensive signings of all time, after new boy Richarlison and Tanguy ndombele.

Arsenal target Tonali does not appreciate departure talk with Milan

While Arsenal have received a significant boost over Yeremy Pino in the last 24 hours, Sandro Tonali is a player who may not be coming to the Emirates this summer.

Reports earlier this week suggested The Gunners were initially in talks with AC Milan over a deal for the Italian international midfielder.

However, in a recent interview with Sette Magazine in Milan, Tonali claimed that his future lies in the San Siro.

“[Joining AC Milan] was the right thing to do and my development has been a natural consequence,” he said.

“Constantly being in a team is not the same as being loaned out. It is a detail that matters little in itself, but makes a difference by adding other factors.

“If you play badly during a loan period, you can worry that the club won’t sign you. I came to Milan at the right time and I want to stay.”

Moyes denies West Ham bid for Memphis Depay

Yet another Barcelona player whose club future has become a dominant theme in this transfer window is Memphis Depay.

The Dutch forward is on track for a Camp Nou departure before the deadline, as Barca try to shift the Ronald Koeman and sign their wage bill, with Juventus seen as the most likely next destination amid rival sympathies over Tottenham and even a possible return to Manchester United.

Football Insider reported that West Ham has now made a big money offer to Depay to team up with headliner Gianluca Scamacca and Michail Antonio at the London Stadium.

However, Irons boss David Moyes dismissed the speculation yesterday, telling reporters ahead of the Nottingham Forest clash: “It’s not us.”

Man United in talks over Sergino Dest deal

Manchester United are trying to sign Barcelona fullback Sergino Dest, according to reports.

The Red Devils are chasing a number of players as their rather absent-minded approach to the end of a largely frustrating first transfer window under Erik ten Hag continues.

As per Catalan outlet Sport, United are in talks with Barca over a deal for US international Dest that could be worth just £16.9million.

They would have offered Diogo Dalot as part of the negotiations, although de Blaugrana would prefer a direct cash deal as they want to improve their financial situation.

Sport added that Chelsea could still rival United for Dest, with both clubs still trying to sign his Barca team-mate Frenkie de Jong.

Tottenham follow Arsenal target Paqueta

Tottenham are reportedly on the trail of Lucas Paqueta.

North London rivals Arsenal – along with Newcastle – are among a number of other clubs linked with the Brazilian playmaker this summer, with France’s Lyon having to face an obvious battle to keep his services.

According to football.london, the Spurs have been following Paqueta for some time, with suggestions in recent days that he could move on for a reduced fee of just £33 million.

However, Antonio Conte is currently prioritizing spending as he has already made six new purchases this summer.

But once those unwanted players are fired, is there room for another big splash? Time will tell…

Chelsea in Fofana deal with £80m deal

Chelsea are finally getting closer to signing Wesley Fofana, according to the latest reports.

The French centre-back, 21, has long emerged as Thomas Tuchel’s next top target as he looks to further strengthen and reform his aging defense this month.

Chelsea’s opening two bids in a long-running chase have been rejected out of hand, but Foot Mercato reports that Leicester have now told the Blues that Fofana can leave the King Power Stadium for a fee of around £80million.

In addition, the French outlet also claims that Fofana already has a personal agreement with Chelsea.

Arsenal handed huge Pino boost

Arsenal appear to have received a significant boost in their search for Yeremy Pino.

The Gunners, along with Premier League rivals Liverpool, have identified the Spanish teenager as the ideal next recruit as Mikel Arteta looks to bolster his broad option ahead of the September 1 transfer deadline.

That pursuit has only been reinforced by yesterday’s comments from former Arsenal boss Unai Emery, who admitted before Villarreal’s LaLiga opener against Valladolid tonight that Pino would probably have to leave if a suitable offer comes along.

“If there is an offer for players like Yeremy Pino, he will have to leave,” he said.

“We have a responsibility with the club. It is what it is.”

Conte backs Lukaku to shine again in England

Tottenham head coach Antonio Conte has ensured that Romelu Lukaku will be a future success in the Premier League despite a flop at Chelsea.

Lukaku returned to Stamford Bridge last summer in a club record £97.5million, after two outstanding seasons under Conte at Inter Milan, but struggled and this summer he returned to Serie A on loan.

Conte said: “Sure, he [Lukaku] has the potential to play in the Premier League. I remember very well when he started playing last season, he played very well and you said in the media that Lukaku is very strong. Many things can happen to fall [a player’s] to trust.

“I’m sure he’s a little disappointed with his impact because he wanted to make another impact in England. But he has time. Now it’s good for him to play for an important club in Italy to regain confidence in himself to get.” But we are talking about a very important, a very good striker.”

Paris Saint-Germain manager Christophe Galtier has confirmed Mauro Icardi is on the transfer list.

“The club is working closely with Mauro to find the best possible solution,” Galtier said on Friday.
