Norman Reedus has been honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame during an emotional ceremony in Los Angeles.

The living Dead star paid tribute to his wife Diane Kruger and their “beautiful family” for creating a home environment that “is so cheerful and fun every day” when he took the honor.

Actor Norman is best known for his role like the crossbow-wielding Daryl Dixon on the AMC zombie drama, where he has played one of the lead characters since the first series aired in 2010.

He was joined at the ceremony by co-star Jon Bernthal, and prosthetic expert and series director Greg Nicotero, each of whom gave brief introductory speeches.

In addition to his wife Diane, the actor also received support from his mother Marianne and son Mingus.

In a short speech before his star was unveiled, an awe-inspiring Norman admitted he “never saw this coming.”

‘My mother is here,’ he said, adding, ‘Thank you for putting up with me all these years. I know it wasn’t easy.

“Then I pass the baton, Diane, I love you so much. Thank you for giving me a beautiful family, a homely environment that is so happy and fun every day.”

Norman also paid tribute to both his children, Nova, three, and Mingus, 23, describing them as “the proudest thing I’ve ever done.”

Aside from acting, Norman’s career has also seen him break into other artistic mediums including photography, directing and art.

He recently became a New York Times bestselling author, having released his debut novel The Ravaged earlier this year.

The star of the actor was awarded in the television category, marking the 2,734th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

After 12 years, dozens of character deaths and multiple spin-offs, The Walking Dead is finally coming to an end with the season 11 airing.

Director Greg shared a video from the last day of shooting earlier this year, where Norman said to him, “Thanks for everything. It’s been a real pleasure for me.’

The couple hugged as Greg asked the actor, “Remember when we were babies and we started this show?”

“I feel like my whole brain is shorting out right now. I can’t turn my head around this,’ Norman replied.

He added that he would be “on the bathroom floor with a martini and tears” once filming wrapped up.
