TL;DR

  • YouTube crashes on various iOS devices.
  • The crashes happen within a minute of opening the app.
  • YouTube has acknowledged the issue and is working on a fix.

If you are an iPhone owner trying to use YouTube today you were probably wondering what was going on. There appeared to be a problem that caused the app to crash. But now, according to YouTube, the problem should be fixed.

Earlier today, iPhone users flocked to Twitter to report problems with YouTube. Apparently the app crashed shortly afterwards when attempting to open YouTube on iOS. Neither closing the app nor restarting resolved the situation.

The number of users affected by the bug grew so large this afternoon that Team YouTube on Twitter acknowledged the issue and said a fix is โ€‹โ€‹on the way.

hi, we are aware that many of you who are using YouTube app on iOS devices may be stuck

we are very sorry and we have started working on a solution! updates coming soon๐Ÿ”

Apple’s iPhones weren’t the only devices affected by the issue either, the bug was also reported on the iPad and the tvOS app for Apple TV. Moreover, the problem seems to be found on YouTube Music as well.

Despite the mess, it appears YouTube has pushed a fix, according to the company’s Twitter account.

Hi! the YouTube app on iOS devices should now work fine with no crashes!

thanks for holding on ๐Ÿ’™

But based on the replies to Team YouTube’s most recent tweet, some are still experiencing crashes. For now, it seems all these users can do is wait patiently for things to get better.
